UPDATED- Snowfall Forecasts Wednesday for Leesburg, VA

Here are some updated snowfall forecast totals for Leesburg.  I've lowered a lot of the totals mostly because it looks like there will be more warm air moving in from the southeast than I first thought.  High temperatures will probably get up to around 35 on Wednesday in Leesburg, which may cause rain to mix in with snow or completely change over to rain for a little while Wednesday afternoon.  As of right now, it looks like snow will begin falling shortly before sunrise Wednesday morning.  Snow will continue throughout the morning before mixing with or changing to rain during the afternoon.  By sunset, the rain may briefly mix with or change over to snow before ending around 8PM Wednesday night.  I'm expecting about 2 inches in Leesburg with higher amounts to the west toward the mountains where temperatures will remain lower throughout the day.  I'll keep an eye on this storm as it develops.

  1. At least you are estimating something. Weather people up here wont say anything other than it might snow or it might rain!

  2. Haha well that's because a lot of the time it's way too difficult to say whether or not it will even snow. But as models develop it becomes easier and easier to forecast. I feel pretty confident about this snowfall map. I'm not sure if you saw the first snowfall map I put up, but I had northern VA in 4-8" of snow...which is what the model said at that time. But once the model updated, it had a much lower accumulation forecast. So in a way, TV meteorologists don't want to "disappoint" anyone when they immediately put up the very first model run haha.
