This is the current severe weather outlook according to the Storm Prediction Center. The greatest chance for severe weather Tuesday is going to be along the gulf coast, south of I-20 through Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. In these areas, storms could produce winds in excess of 80 MPH, small hail, and a few tornadoes. Areas around Starkville can expect to see strong to severe storms as well, however this area will not have an environment as unstable as the coast. Clouds will likely keep temperatures slightly lower during the afternoon and dew points will only get into the middle 50s which will keep thunderstorms from becoming destructively severe. These areas can still expect to see winds in excess of 80 MPH with the strongest storms that develop. There is a chance of tornadoes here, however it is a much lower possibility because of the limited moisture available and lower temperatures.
A cold front currently situated in central Texas will begin to move east during the day tomorrow. As it does, thunderstorms will develop along and ahead of the front. Any storms that develop ahead of the front have a slightly higher chance of producing tornadoes given the high amount of shear. (Supercells). There will likely be a large squall line along the front that will move quickly to the east during the afternoon. This line will contain very strong winds (combined surface winds, thunderstorm downdrafts, and overall speed of the front) which may cause damage. Keep an eye out for any watches or warnings that may be issued. I will do my best to keep this updated as watches and warnings go into effect.
