This is the current view of doppler radar across Mississippi and eastern Arkansas. As you can see, a large area of snow (gray/white) stretched from western Arkansas through the delta of Mississippi continues to push east. The red/pink line I've put through the middle of the map represents the "freezing line" which divides areas of rain and snow. Starkville is still south of the "snow" line because temperatures are around 41. We can expect to see precipitation begin as light rain within the next 1 to 2 hours and change over to snow around 3PM or 4PM this afternoon. Expect snow to continue through the evening into tonight, ending by midnight. Total accumulations of 2 to 3 inches are likely.
This is the current watch/warning map for Mississippi. Counties highlighted in pink are under a Winter Storm Warning until 12AM Thursday morning(midnight tonight) where they could see 2 to3 inches of snow, with some amounts around 4 inches. Areas north of I-20 will see mainly snow this evening, however areas along and south of I-20 will see rain briefly mix with or change to snow with accumulations of less than 1 inch possible. I will keep this updated as the storm develops.
