Snowfall Forecast for Wednesday-Leesburg, VA

This is the snowfall forecast map for Leesburg.  I'm forecasting a pretty sharp cut-off line just east of Loudoun county where rain will probably lower snow totals.  In Leesburg, I'm forecasting 4 to 6 inches, however if temperatures lower, these amounts may be higher.  Areas west of Leesburg toward Winchester and through the mountains may see as much as 10 inches of snow, however most areas will likely see 5 to 8 inches.  Areas east of Leesburg, toward D.C. and the Chesapeake Bay will see 1 to 2 inches, with lower amounts closer to the bay where rain will fall for a large portion of the day.

The entire metro area is under a Winter Storm Watch (meaning snowfall totals could exceed 5 inches) from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday night.  Areas in dark blue indicate a Winter Storm Watch.  Counties in pink are under a Winter Storm Warning, and counties in purple are under a Winter Weather Advisory (lighter accumulations).  A Winter Storm Warning will likely be issued for northern Virginia and western Maryland tomorrow so I will update the maps when that happens.
