Severe Weather Update- Starkville, MS

This is the current radar image from the entire southern part of Mississippi.  As you can see, most of the severe weather is in the southern portions of the state from I-20 south into Louisiana.  Right now, the cold front is located right along I-55 where you can see the heaviest line of thunderstorms.  This will continue to push east through the afternoon.

This is the line of storms to the southwest of Starkville.  These storms are moving east-northeast at about 45 MPH.  They will be in Kosciusko within an hour (2:30PM), Lousville in 2 hours (3:30PM), and Starkville in 3 hours (4:30PM).  Expect heavy rain and brief gusty winds.  I will update this if any warnings are issued, however due to the heavy amounts of rain ahead of the line in Starkville, these storms will probably not intensify.

This is a closer look at some of the stronger storms associated with this system right now.  The red circle indicates shear detected by doppler radar, which could signify that the storm is attempting to rotate.  Areas along I-55 south of Jackson, and east of there should stay alert to these storms.  Counties highlighted in yellow behind the radar are under Severe Thunderstorm Warnings.  Expect these storms to continue pushing east, reaching Columbia within an hour and a half (3:00PM) and Hattiesburg within 3 hours (4:30PM).
