UPDATED Ice Forecast for Wednesday- Leesburg, VA

This is the current ice accumulation forecast for Leesburg.  I have put Leesburg BACK in 0.2 to 0.3 inches of ice.  It now appears that cold air will be in place as the heaviest precipitation moves in Tuesday evening/overnight into Wednesday morning.  Precipitation will likely begin as freezing rain around 8PM Tuesday and continue overnight.  Temperatures will be around 30 so rain will freeze on contact with the surface.  Areas in and around Leesburg will likely see around 0.25 inches of ice overnight.  Areas to the south and east, and to the extreme west in the mountains will see 0.1 to 0.2 inches, and outward from there will see mainly rain.  Areas in Pennsylvania and extreme northern Maryland could see up to 0.5 inches of ice.  Any snow will fall in extreme northern Pennsylvania and upstate New York.  I will keep this map updated as the storm develops.

This is the current Watch/Warning map according to the National Weather Service.  As of right now, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for most of the area (counties in light blue) overnight tonight into Tuesday morning.  The Winter Weather Advisory is only for the initial precipitation from the storm system.  A Winter Storm Watch is also in effect for tomorrow night which will either be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning or downgraded to a second Winter Weather Advisory depending on the progression of the storm.  I will keep this map updated as well.
